Rotary Minutes This the commemorative last meeting notes for Roxy as our president.
As I returned to the meeting room I noticed several members disingenuously congratulating Mark Gale for winning the $1500.00 jackpot last week. I thought about this and realized that there is a conundrum in our Four Way Test. It seems that sometimes telling the truth does not necessarily promote goodwill and friendship. With this in mind I muttered a “Mazel Tov.” To him under my breath. Now apparently Mark Gale was having difficulty deciding how he was going to spend his new found fortune. I decided to help poor Mark out surveying the club members and came up with a top eleven list: Number Eleven: Breath mints Roxy began the meeting and despite it being her last as president, may I say, she looked very presidential. Either that or she was having a bout of gas. Either way she looked great! She asked Laurie to give the invocation Laurie was surprised at this and Randy Pote came to the rescue with an impressive prayer in which he thanked G-d for just about everything. Jennifer was asked to lead in the pledge. Now Jennifer will be only a heart beat away from the presidency. I’ve been told that being president –elect is different from being vice- president but even so no one is lining up to go quail hunting with her. Kent Ostedgaard actually had a Rotary minute today. He discussed that the Rotary International convention will take place this year in Denmark. This annual convention symbolizes the changing of the guard. The end of the Rotary year on June 30 and the beginning of the new year on July1st. Announcements and SuchLaurie and Mark Gale discussed this years Littleton festival. It was decided that there was enough interest that we would go ahead and participate in selling beverages at the fair, as we did last year. The festival will take place on Saturday, September 9th from 6-10 p.m. Ken Hope reported that at the last foundation meeting the board voted to contribute $1000.00 plus a $200.00 King Sooper gift certificate to our good friend Ciff “Santa Claus” Dugal who recently had heart complications. Ken also discussed our scholarship student. Ben and Hugh volunteered to help this student with the community service requirement. Roxy announced: The club will go dark July 4thNext Tuesdays meeting will take place at Barb Medina’s house in the evening. It is Brian and Heather’s 8th anniversary. They have a beautiful little girl and another one on the way . Jennifer did happy bucks:
Special note: At this point Mark Gale spilled his drink all over his table a created quite the ruckus. Dan had the winning ticket and took home a whopping $15. We were all rooting for him! Next week we will welcome in Madam President Laurie Christensen. By Marc Garfinkel
