Centennial Rotary General Meeting

On Tuesday, November 04, 2008

Greeter--Tom B.
Invocation--Ben
Pledge--Jeff

President Hank rang the bell early again.

We had 5 guests, including several that are prospective new members.

Jennie with Together with the Children gave a nice Thank You for our support and shared other ways we can help.

Hank announced the next Board meeting is 11/6.

Andres gave both a verbal and written report, with photos, on our Nuevo stretcher elevator project.

Mary Alice gave the Club a synopsis of the recent Club survey and heard from the City of Centennial about helping with food gathering again.

Randy asked members to continue "feeding" their piggy banks. We have planned two gatherings, one before Christmas and one in early Spring. Monies collected will be donated to the Foundation for this year’s Polio donation. He also gave an update on Cathy Smith, who still needs our prayers. He gave an update on the Invocation Book project. We recently received a $100 donation for one book. Andres is going to do a translation into Spanish to allow us to get the Book into Mexico.

Happy Bucks

  • Ken gave money as he is happy he is back after a 5 day trial.
  • Pete for our guests and that the election will be over soon.
  • Mary Alice for her nephew’s wedding.
  • Andres for our guests and no more political ads. Keep his father in law in your thoughts and prayers too!!!
  • Roxy for our guests and just to be here.
  • Randy because it is Tuesday and he is at Rotary. Something about watch repair too.
  • Katherine because her Dad is home and she is optimistic about her job.
  • Jeff gave a "pressured" buck, happy to be at Rotary.
  • Jenn happy to see Jeff so Randy isn’t the butt of everything.
  • Hank gave multiple bucks for guests, hopeful new members and great trip to Germany.
  • Barb in thanks for Andres to soon translate Invo Book.
  • Jim (guest) thanks for getting to speak and for Mike Galvin driving up from Woodland Park.
  • Ben for Rachel’s upcoming 30th birthday and invited all for an adult beverage sometime soon.
  • Jeff (again) for having shoes 30 years old.

Our Program

Kent introduced our speaker(s)--Mike Galvin and Jim Olmstead. They prefaced the talk by saying that our 4 way Test dovetails into their program.

Mike Galvin is on the Board for "Foundation for Character Development" and the "Character Education Partnership". He is a retired school principal of Columbine Elementary in Woodland Park. His school was a winner of a national award for character. The organization encourages districts and individual schools to integrate character into their programs and education initiatives. The program is as important in the growth and well-being of young people in their careers and lives.

This was an excellent program and hopefully our Club can develop a working relationship with the Foundation in a number of ways.

Marbles

Pete drew to clear and the pot carries over to next week.
