Centennial Rotary General Meeting

On Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Custodian--probably Paul
Invocation--Ken H.
Pledge--Laurie
Notes--Tom B.

President Hank rang the bell at 7:30

Kent introduced guests--Marc G.’s family and Jerry

ROTARY MINUTE

Kent explained RI’s policy regarding classifications. When established, Club’s were to be careful regarding more than one person per classification. Since membership has become more difficult, RI loosened the "rules" and although they still exist in principal, Club’s can accept applications from as many people from the same classification as they wish. It is deemed more important to build membership than stay with the old guidelines.

NEW MEMBER INDUCTION

Sandra Abeyta and John McCarty were inducted as the newest members of our Club in a ceremony presented by Randy. They both were given several minutes to share info about themselves. This is the fourth Club John has been in and he is a multiple past-president. His first introduction was as a RYLA participant in Longmont. Sandra is a native of Colorado and this is her first experience with Rotary.

Greg shared more info about our Holiday party. It will be at Heritage Eagle Bend on Sunday, December 14th. It was reported that auctioneers Loner and Hope will again help us with our "travel gift fundraising auction." This is becoming a fun tradition and the more members participate, the better.

Hank reminded members about the RI President’s visit for the 4 District Foundation dinner January 16th. Two tables are already purchased and there aren’t many seats left.

Birthdays--Hank’s daughter, not in attendance, is celebrating her 25th? birthday soon. Randy has one next week.

Ken H. brought back a piece of Indian pottery from the bottom of the Grand Canyon, where he recently visited with his daughter and friends.

HAPPY BUCKS

Marc did the honors and started out with his Presidential question, Who used "keep the ball rolling" as a campaign slogan?

Many happy dollars were collected by our resident chiropractor.

Tom and Cliff discussed the upcoming gift project at the Denver Children’s Home. Members were thanked for their generosity and urged to sign up for the final gift needs. Please bring them in next week so there is no need for multiple trips to the orphanage.

PROGRAM

Marc introduced his daughter, Alexa.

Alexa is a past participant of RYLA and relayed her positive experiences. She felt she grew a lot and thanked the Club for the opportunity to attend. She recently had surgery to assist her in hearing and is thrilled that she was just accepted at CSU. Marc shared some of her hearing loss history and many of her successes.

Kent announced we are looking for a sophomore or junior to go to this year’s RYLA.

Hank gave his quote for the day and we adjourned at 8:30
