Centennial Rotary General MeetingOn Tuesday, September 02, 2008 Custodian--Laurie At our first ever evening meeting, President Hank rang the bell promptly at 6:30 p.m. Hank introduced the only guest, his wife, Jeanne. Rotary MinuteKent gave us information about District Governor’s visits to Clubs. Our DG Steve will visit us on 10-7. He will meet with the board at Greg’s office the night before. Kent shared with us the trials of some DG’s and how far they travel to visit each Club in their District. Most Districts have over 60 Clubs in it. One of the most traveled DG is the one in Alaska, who has to travel from the Yukon Territory, Canada to Siberia. Hank shared that September’s Board meeting will be held Thursday, September 4th at 7:05 a.m. Kent’s Rotary Minute next week will share with us the details about the Club Assembly to be held on September 16th. Jennifer reminded members that the peaches will be delivered at the Embassy Suites at 11:30 a.m., instead of the earlier time. Please find the truck in the NW corner of the parking lot. Hank thanked members for their attendance (editor’s note, quite sparse) at last week’s offsite meeting at the Skyridge Surgical Center. Our speaker was pleased and enjoyed our visit. The State of our State meeting will be held 10/23 and you can attend and have Barb put the cost on your bill. Please let her know. Hank had fliers on the tables about the Littleton Sunrise’s post RI convention cruise. Hank reminded us that the Boulder Club is holding a raffle for a free trip to the RI convention next year in Birmingham, England. Randy shared an update on Cathy. Volunteers were recruited for meals next Thursday-Saturday. Thanks to the Bucks, Jacksons, Roxy. The next time Cathy needs food, Jennifer, the Henschens and Barb will step us. Any questions can be directed to Randy. ProgramKent introduced our speaker, Ernie Carwile. He graduated from the Iliff School of Theology and University of Missouri. He has been a minister in several churches. He noticed that there are 15 recurrent themes in quotes for ages. He has written 7 of the series of 15 books. The first 7 include, Adversity, Self-acceptance, Death, Persistence, Power of silence, Oneness and Attitude. He gave us a great deal on the purchase of the set of 7 books and half of the assembled took advantage of the offer. As you look at Happy Bucks below, you will probably gather that---YOU MISSED AN INCREDIBLE PROGRAM!!!!!!!!! WHERE WERE YOU ALL? Our first evening meeting was thoroughly enjoyed by those there. Happy BucksMarc came forth and collected, after asking which President Mark Twain called the Tom Sawyer of the 20th century. Hank gave $2--one for Paul staying and one for our speaker. Jen copied Hank--$1 for THE OHIO STATE and one for the speaker. Paul continued the $2 giving, 1 for not scooting and one for the speaker. Mary Alice dittoed the above, 1 for enjoying last week’s off campus meeting and 1 for the speaker. Tom celebrated Paul for staying the entire meeting. Roxy gave $2, one in identifying the President as Teddy R. and the second for knowing the shoe story our speaker told. Jeanne for Hank’s getting a clean bill of health. Charlie gave a buck to see who showed up in the morning instead of the evening. The three names stayed a secret. Kent gave a sad buck for Roxy and Ken, as CSU sucks. Randy gave a buck in honor of speaker.
NEXT WEEK WE WILL CHOOSE BETWEEN OCTOBER 11TH AND 25TH TO DO A GROCERY COLLECTION FOR INTER-FAITH COMMUNITY SERVICES. Please check you calendar and come prepared to choose a date.
