Randy polled the Club as to which Saturday in Oct. we will do a food drive for Inter-Faith Community Services. Consensus was 10/11 at the King Soopers on Arapahoe west of Holly. About 10 members raised their hands. Randy also reminded members about our project with Second Wind on September 21st. A map and list of volunteers will come out next week. Diane asked members to please attend the 9/16 assembly meeting, which will feature a power point she and Roxy have developed. She said it was very important for all to attend. ed. note (Great, I just booked a fundraiser and have a kickoff that morning) Loy told of the upcoming "Together with the Children" project they are doing with Denver Mile Hi, Evergreen and Commerce City. The project will take place in Puebla Mexico and that Club has already committed $2500. Jen and Barb will handle point on it for us. Jen gave members a big thank you for helping raise almost $1000 with the peach sale. Huge thanks to Jeanne/Hank who sold over 25 cases and Pete, who met the early arriving truck. Andres shared information about the trip to Nuevo Laredo for the ceremony dedicating the stretcher elevator we helped with. Plans are to leave 10/30 and return 11/1. Please contact him with your interest. Cathy thanked the Bucks for the delicious meal they provided her last week. Mary Alice, Roxy, Barb and Jen volunteered to do the same next Thursday-Sunday. Randy is the coordinating person. Happy BucksMarc started out with a presidential question. Which President wanted to remove "In God we trust," from our currency? Paul--$3--1 for Cathy--$1 for the Broncos and $1 for CU. Barb--$2--1 for Cathy and 1 for the weekend hike with her grandson and a dropped H2O bottle litter lesson. Andres--$2--1 for Cathy and one for next week's vacation. Cathy gave cash in a big thank you to the Club. Kim gave a buck for new friends. Diane--$10, $5 for Cathy and $5 for DC. Ed. apologizes for not remembering the abbreviation. Jenn--$3--1 for Cathy, 1 for Loy and one for The Ohio State. Loy gave a buck for his Cal Bears. Bryan gave a dollar for Cathy. Kent gave cash celebrating his homebrew club, "Foam on the Range," donating $200 to our Foundation for us to match and give $400 to Sox Place. Katherine gave cash for Cathy. Randy--$2--one for Cathy and one for being in Rotary. Hank--$3--1 for Cathy, 1 for the speaker and 1 for the guests. The answer was Teddy Roosevelt. ProgramKent introduced visiting Rotarian Brad to introduce our speaker, Jim O'Brien, member of the Cherry Creek School District board. Together they gave an excellent program spelling out why it is important for the upcoming bond issues to pass. With the former one expiring, the actual cost of the $58 per year cost, net cost will be $38. It is important for the project to pass as well-educated kids are good for the economy and us older people, who depend on them for our elder future. They had a great pass out that each member received. MarblesOh, we didn't do marbles. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY-- " I give 100% at work" Hank broke it down with a small percentage each day. You had to be there!!
